We had the pleasure of creating a custom veil for Grace VanderWaal to wear on the Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet. Grace dazzled for the premiere of Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis. Grace took inspiration for her look from her character in Megalopolis, Vesta Sweetwater, a “golden virgin.” You'll have to watch the movie to find out what that means! Celebrity stylist Janelle Best pulled a vintage Panos Zinas mesh and sequin gown from her collection at Desert Stars Vintage, and Grace loved it, but something was missing. “I said it was perfect but needed a veil.” That’s where we came in! After Janelle and Grace shared the vision with NK Bride head designer Nathalie Kraynina, she got to work on the glowing masterpiece.

“We designed a cathedral-length mantilla veil. The tulle is Italian, and we hand-embroidered the gold metallic lace piece by piece to create a unique pattern,” Nathalie explained. We use only the finest materials for our clients to ensure maximum quality and longevity. “Close enough” doesn’t cut it here, so the team made sure to color-match the veil perfectly to the dress, making for a cohesive ensemble destined to be paired together. The long, dramatic train was a head-turner, captivating anyone who set eyes on it. Grace not only looked lovely in the veil but was a joy to be around as well. “I loved working with Grace because she has vision and integrity,” Nathalie stated.

When Grace and Janelle saw the veil with the dress for the first time, their reactions were priceless—tears of joy and awe with screams of excitement. “OH MY GOD, This made it. I knew that it needed this. This made it. It completed it. It’s just perfect, everything about it,” Grace gushed. We like to think of every piece we create as art and were super happy that Grace thought so too! “It’s unbelievable. Isn’t this something you would see in a museum?” she asked Janelle. “It’s beautiful,” Janelle replied. “Best dressed.”
