We want to share the story of Nicole and Nathan’s romantic Texas wedding. NK Bride Designer, Nathalie Kraynina, had the pleasure of working with Nicole to create her custom reception dress. It was fun, flirty, and modern and was the perfect complement to their rustic venue.
Nicole and Nathan’s history is deep and adorable, having first met at a dance in highschool. They both came in the same group with different dates. They first met at the pictures before the dance, as they attended different schools at the time, but they quickly became friends. Nathan later transferred schools, and ended up dating another friend at his old school. During this time Nathan and Nicole became closer friends. The pair both left for college and continued to date other people, but they remained friends.
“Relationships would come and go, but our friendship didn’t fade”
Nathan eventually moved to New York for work, and would travel to California to visit Nicole for holidays. Nicole and Nathan finally got together when they were 29. They already knew everything about each other, giving them an amazing foundation for their relationship.
The happy couple tackled long distance for a year and a half while Nicole was working as a nurse in California, but the couple now lives in NYC.
The couple wanted to have a laid back, non-formal party feel on their wedding day. It was all about being rustic, romantic, and modern. The main goal for the couple was to have a good time, enjoy good food, and have good company.
Texas wasn’t the first choice for the couple, they originally considered California, but found the perfect venue near family in Texas. The space had all of the outdoor elements they were looking for. The venue was a big Texas house that provided both indoor and outdoor spaces for their celebration.
When Nicole came to us she had so many amazing ideas on what her custom dress was going to look like. When she arrived she impressed us with her own sketches to provide ideas for both top and bottom of the dress. Designer Nathalie and Nicole discussed fabric options, and what ideas would work best together, as well as chose fabrics. Nicole would check-in often to watch the process.
“I enjoyed the process because I could stop in for questions. Natalie was always flexible, it really felt like I was having a friend design my dress.
Nicole wanted a fun, yet modest dress. It was important to her that she felt sexy, but that it was still wearable. They chose to incorporate sexy features like the v-neck at the bust, while still covering skin. The Texas fringe made the whole look very playful and flirty. Nicole wanted a modern dress, something that she could wear again either as a top or bottom.
Making this asymmetrical piece was a challenge for Natalie. The fringe was two different lengths, which posed extra concern when lining up the edges to make the asymmetrical design. It was a fun and exciting challenge for the NK Bride designer, and we are so thrilled that Nicole loved her custom dress.
“ I was so excited to put my reception dress on. I was just wondering how long I should wait to change into it.”
Best wishes to Nicole and Nathan and a long happy life together.
